BL grads show off rugby skills at National Championships

Bishop Lynch alums Francesca Farlow ('16) and Rhiannon Townsend ('17) recently competed in the National Collegiate Rugby 15's National Championships in Charlotte, NC.

The best men's and women's rugby teams from DI and DII met to determine the national champions.

Farlow (USCGA 2020) is the starting tighthead prop (No. 3) for the United States Coast Guard Academy Women's Rugby team. On Saturday, the Lady Bears of the United Sates Coast Guard Academy lost to Vassar College (who ultimately won the National Championship) in the semifinal game.

On Sunday, the Lady Bears secured third place in the DII Women's National Collegiate Rugby 15's Championship by defeating the University of Cincinnati Lady Bearcats in the bronze medal game.

Townsend (USAFA 2021) is the starting fly-half (No. 10) for the United States Air Force Academy Women's Rugby team.  On Sunday, the Falcons of the United States Air Force Academy defeated Davenport to win the DI Women's National Collegiate Rugby 15's Championship.

The Falcons' victory was sweet revenge as Davenport eliminated the Falcons in last year's semifinal game.
