Lady Friars finish second at 31-team meet in The Colony

The Bishop Lynch AquaFriars competed in the Cougar Classic at The Colony pool on Saturday.

The Bishop Lynch Lady Friars continued their string of excellent performances at the meet, finishing second in the 31-team field. 

The Lady Friars were led by senior captain Jessica Jordan, who won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:15.59 seconds, and who finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley. 

Jordan got support from:

• Freshman Ailish Tierney, who finished second in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke;

• Senior Jordan Carl, who finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke and eighth in the 500-yard freestyle;

• Junior Bonnie Nolan, who finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke;

• Junior Niamh Tierney, who finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley;

• Senior Shauna Seidel, who finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle; and

• Junior Jesseca Hageman, who finished 11th in the 100-yard backstroke and 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jordan and Seidel combined with Ailish and Niamh Tierney to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:52.67.

Nolan, Carl, Jordan, and Niamh Tierney joined to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay, while Nolan, Carl, Seidel and Ailish Tierney grouped to finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Friar men finished 13th overall, with junior Will Eckles leading the way. Eckles finished sixth in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke. 

Senior captain Eric Bray chipped in with an excellent fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. 

Other good performances were by freshman Joe Weber in the 50-yard freestyle; freshman Chris Thias in the 100-yard breaststroke; sophomore Killian Baker in the 100-yard freestyle; and freshman Ashlyn Duy in the 50-yard freestyle.
