Lady Friar swim team dominates in Carrollton

The Bishop Lynch AquaFriars traveled to Carrollton on Tuesday to take on Creekview, Ranchview, RL Turner, Newman Smith and Bryan Adams.

The Friar men scored two wins, defeating RL Turner and Newman Smith, while falling short against Creekview, Adams and Ranchview. 

The Friars were led by junior Will Eckles, who won both the 50-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. 

Eckles got support from:

• Junior captain Eric Bray, who finished 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle to complete a 1-2 sweep in that event with Eckles;

• Junior Sean O'Hare, who finished 4th in the 100-yard freestyle in a personal best time of 57.59 seconds, and who finished 5th in the 200-yard Individual Medley; and

• Junior Will Seidel, who finished 5th in the 50-yard freestyle.

The team of O'Hare, Seidel and Eckles joined with junior AJ Armenta to finish 3rd in the 400-yard freestyle relay, while Armenta, Bray and Seidel combined with freshman Joe Weber to finish 5th in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Lady Friars were dominant in the meet, defeating all five opposing schools handily. 

The Lady Friars were led by two-event winners junior Niamh Tierney, who was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, and freshman Ailish Tierney, who was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle. 

Other fine performances were by:

• Senior captain Jessica Jordan, who won the 200-yard Individual Medley and was 2nd in the 100-yard breaststroke;

• Senior Shauna Seidel, who won the 500-yard freestyle and finished 4th in the 50-yard freestyle;

• Junior Bonnie Nolan, who finished 2nd in both the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle;

• Senior Jordan Carl, who finished 2nd in the 200-yard Individual Medley and 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke; and

• Freshman Kate Hickerson, who finished 3rd in the 500-yard freestyle in a personal best time of 6:54.04.

The women's team dominated all three relays, with Nolan, Carl, Jordan and Niamh Tierney winning the 200-yard Medley Relay, Ailish and Niamh Tierney joining with Nolan and Jordan to claim victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and Nolan, Seidel and Ailish Tierney combining with junior Jesseca Hageman to win the 400-yard freestyle relay.
