Friars take second at BL Wrestling Invitational

The Friar wrestling squad just missed out on winning the tournament title at home last weekend at the Bishop Lynch Invitational.

The Friars finished second, just a few points behind tournament champion Amarillo Tascosa. Frisco was third, just a handful of points behind the Friars.

In varsity competition, Charlie Holub won gold in his weight class while Luke Mazur, Edwin Ruiz and Paul Davis were all second-place in their divisions.

Raul Villa, Ben Weber, and Kade Findley earned bronze medals while Jesse Gonzalez, James Hickerson, Adam Gaytan and Jimmy Nguyen were each fourth in their respective divisions.

In junior varsity action, Seth Green took gold, Beau Renteria and Nate Lasby earned bronze while Lucas Westbrook and Alex Miller each finished fourth.

The team will compete in a dual at St. Mark's on Friday, then again at the Atlanta Prep Slam from Jan. 3-5.
